The Next Wokingham May Fayre : Mon 2nd May 2011

Monday 3rd May 2010
A cool showery morning gave way to a sunny afternoon. More favourable conditions this year meant that we were able to have the maypole dancing on the grass of Elms Field again. Our dancing was interspersed with Brass Band recitals. Once again large crowds attended.

Mon 4th May 2009: Another enjoyable afternoon maypole and country dancing on the paving again. Large crowds at the fayre and much participation by the youngsters again.

Wokingham May Fayre 2008 (5th May)
We awoke to rainy skies on Monday morning but by the time the Fayre started the sun was out and temperatures were soaring. Unfortunately Elms Field was more like a marsh after the recent rains so we relocated to a paved surface nearby. The town was absolutely packed and we had no trouble persuading participation in the maypole dancing, from the younger generation in particular. Many thanks to the organisers of the fayre and to my fellow maypole dancers (who all dressed up as peasants) and to all those who joined in to make it so much fun.

May Fayre 2007 (7th May)
After several hours of heavy rain everyone was just about to give up and go home when, all of a sudden, the sun came out. The Jazz Band turned up and started playing and we danced around the maypole to their wonderful music. After they had finished the CD player had arrived and we continued to some more traditional music. Lots of people joined in and a good time was had by all in the end. Its happening all over again on Mon 5th May 2008 with lots of things to see and do, and we're bringing the maypole along again. Please come along and join in the fun. See you there.
