Wood Festival Maypole

17th May 2009: The second annual Wood Festival at Braziers Park, Ipsden brought out an enthusiastic crowd who braved the wind and rain to listen to some excellent music and to take part in diverse activities, including dancing round my maypole with creditable results (as pictured above).  Looking forward to next year when we have been promised lovely weather!

26th December 2008 Boxing Day. A sunny but rather chilly day for the Mummers of Crookham Village , a tradition dating back to around 1680 and one of the oldest surviving regularly performed mummers play in the world. This year a dragon turned up but I didn't see him  take part in any of the action. Lots of swords were broken,  bodies piled up and Father Christmas met a sticky end.

Sunningdale Carnival
The long awaited Sunningdale Carnival 2008 finally took place on 20 September and the decision to reschedule because of bad weather in May payed off with fine weather and large crowds. September looks like becoming the prefered date in forthcomming years.
